James on his junior season at Glades Central:
“This was my first year really playing defensive back,” he said. “I feel like it could’ve been way better if I would’ve worked harder. But it was alright.”
At this time, James has earned an offer from Western Kentucky and has gained interest from the likes of FIU, Maryland, and, Pitt.
James on his Western Kentucky offer that he earned on May 3, 2023:
“My thoughts on getting WKU when I got it was excited and I’m still hyped about it,” he said. “I’m looking forward to seeing where my relationship with them goes in the future.”

There is a direct connection from Western Kentucky to Belle Glade. It is none other than Belle Glade native and Western Kentucky defensive backs coach Da’Von Brown, who James likes a lot.
“Coach Brown, he’s a cool guy,” he said. “Every time me and him talk, he’s always asking how I’m doing in school and how my family is doing and stuff. He’s a great coach. I love what he’s done with the DB’s he coached and what they are doing with the DB’s up there right now. Every time I turn their game on, that’s really all I’m looking at. I’m impressed with it.”
James is currently in offseason mode to improve his overall craft. Providing an assist to him is new Raiders head coach Omar Haugabook, who was officially installed at the position on Feb. 1.
“I feel like Coach O is honestly changing the culture here,” he said. “The workouts are far more intense and he’s always on us. He’s pushing us to get our grades right and do the right thing so we can stay on the right path.”
James shared his aspirations for these next several months ahead.
“I plan on working 10 times harder than last year, putting in overtime,” he said. “My goals for next year are 50+ regular season tackles, 5+ regular season interceptions, making the playoffs, and getting more offers.”
