Wilkins (5-foot-7, 135 pounds) reflected on his junior season at Glades Day.
“It went good,” Wilkins said. “We could’ve done better, but we had a young team with not much experience. A lot of injuries were happening throughout the season with some of our main players having to sit out. Then at the end of the season a big brawl happened, which sadly knocked out seven of our starting players for our first playoff game against Oasis.”
Wilkins spoke about the positive impact that Glades Day head coach/athletic director Zach Threkeld has had on his overall development.
“Coach T is a great head coach who’s coached me and my brothers throughout the years,” Wilkins said. “He has been a great person to look up to mentally and physically, on and off the field. This year Coach T gave me a chance to shoot my shot everywhere on the field – offense, defense, and even figuring out to put me at long snapper. He put me through tough challenges that I didn’t expect to face and was there for me every step through.”
Wilkins is a multi-sport athlete, as he is currently playing for Glades Day’s baseball team and will be playing travel basketball throughout the spring and summer. This will help him prepare in earnest for the 2024 fall football season, which will go on to be his final one at Glades Day as an upcoming senior.
“I just want to get better in any way and help my team go for a big run in this upcoming season,” Wilkins said.
