BELLE GLADE – We have yet another hidden gem for the Glades Central Raiders.
Meet Anthony Velasquez, a linebacker who is in the Class of 2025.

The junior posted the following statistics this past season:
•20 total tackles
•4 sacks
•5 pass breakups
The best individual game for Velasquez came in Week 5 at home against Dwyer (24-21 overtime loss). Here are his stats from that one:
•5 tackles; 1 tackle for loss
•2 pass breakups
Velasquez recapped his junior season in his own way.
“It was a learning experience,” Velasquez said. “One thing that I loved about my junior season was getting to bond more with my teammates while putting in work.”
At this time, Velasquez does not have any college offers or interest to speak of. But this offseason and the upcoming season promises to be an exciting for him, to say the very least.
For one thing, Glades Central teammate and classmate Victor Butts (‘25 wide receiver) sees great things happening on behalf of Velasquez.
“He’s a really smart player when it comes to reading offensive formations and plays,” Butts said of the 5-foot-9, 200-pound linebacker. “He is very physical.”
Stay tuned for further updates on Velasquez as his growth will be on display over the next several months and beyond.
