PALM BEACH GARDENS – One of the very best freshmen in all of South Florida has a name to remember.
Nomo.

Yes, you heard it right. It is the official nickname for the Palm Beach Gardens ‘27 wide receiver Lorontae Davis.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound speedster is one of Palm Beach County’s most electrifying players in more ways than one. All one needs to do is watch some film of him.
Here’s a clip from Nomo’s eighth-grade year at an all-star game.

You can also watch Nomo’s freshman season highlights on his Hudl page.
Speaking of Nomo’s freshman campaign, he posted the following statistics in 11 games played:
•14 receptions
•300 yards
•7 total touchdowns
Nomo’s best game was against Jupiter in Week 10. He registered the following numbers during his team’s 42-20 home loss to the crosstown rival:
•2 receptions
•85 yards
•1 touchdown
•30 kick return yards on special teams
•115 total yards
“I felt like I played good, but not good enough to win the game,” Nomo said. “So I feel like we could have played better as a team.”
Nomo recapped his freshman season, which ended in the Class 4M-Region 3 semifinal round (35-28 road loss to Santaluces; 6-5 final record for Palm Beach Gardens).
“I liked the way my freshman year went,” Nomo said. “I felt like I was guided correctly by the right guys for my first year. And I loved how they brought me in and treated me like a little brother. They showed me a lot because I was new to certain things. I wouldn’t change the way the season went. We grew stronger and stronger every week. We just fell short in the end.”
Palm Beach Gardens linebackers coach Rayfield Dixon weighed in on Nomo and what he provides for the team.
SIDE NOTE: Dixon’s mother is from South Bay and his father is from Clewiston. This is primarily why his co-sign is needed and required for the Nomo story.
“On the field, Nomo is a man amongst boys and still hasn’t reached anywhere near his full potential,” Dixon said of Nomo, who has earned his first two offers this past January from USF and FAU.
“He’s the type of guy that you need on both sides of the ball,” Dixon continued. “True impact player. Very high playmaking ability. Not scared of competition at all. A hard-working, very smart, physical, and athletic baller.”
Dixon did not stop there.
“Off the field, Nomo is a good kid,” Dixon said. “Very respectful and dependable kid. Does a good job of making sure he stays on top of his academics.”
We will be closely following Nomo’s progress for the upcoming spring football circuit and beyond. We are expecting great things from Nomo in more ways than one for his sophomore season with Palm Beach Gardens.
