BELLE GLADE – Sauverson Paul had a learning experience to remember as a sophomore with Glades Central.

The Raiders ‘26 defensive end finished last year’s campaign with the following statistics:
•17 total tackles (6 solo, 11 assist)
•3 sacks
•2 tackles for loss
Paul’s best game was in Week 5 at home against Dwyer. Here are the statistics from that one:
•3 total tackles (2 tackles for loss, 2 assist)
•1 sack
Paul spoke on how his sophomore season went at Glades Central.
“My sophomore year was pretty good,” Paul said. “I loved the work ethic I was showing learning from my mistakes and fixing them. What could have gone differently is me and the team putting in more effort into the weight room, getting more workouts, and bettering our craft. Overall we all need improvement, even the little things.”
As Glades Central has made a head coaching transition from Travis Moore to Omar Haugabook, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound defensive lineman made sure to speak well on both coaches.
Paul started with Moore.
“Coach Moore was a good coach,” Paul said. “He knew what we were thinking and how he bonded with us. He wanted nothing but the best from us. He was also encouraging us in our studies and staying safe when not on the field or off the field. So there isn’t much change but the work we put in the weight room, classrooms, on and off the field.”
Paul continued with Haugabook.
“I would say Coach Omar is a great coach,” Paul said. “He’s been encouraging us to stay focused into our studies and also pushing us to be our better selves. He is helping us get stronger and bigger by pushing us in the weight room. He is showing us we could be a great team.”
As Paul transitions from the offseason to the spring football circuit in less than three weeks and beyond, he is looking forward to a great 2024 in more ways than one.
“My individual goal is to be a leader to my lower class men and to help my seniors play amazing football,” Paul said. “I’m also working hard to get recognition from colleges. And my team goal is to have a better record than last year and make it to playoffs. We want to come together so we could build our team from the ground up. It starts with us, of course.”
We are excited to see what is in store for Paul, his teammates, his coaches, and the entire Glades Central football program.
