Led by head coach Bryan Crawford, the very energetic and confident female collective is set to go on the road and play against Lincoln Park Park Academy (13-3; Class 1A-District 22 champion). He knows exactly what is at stake tonight (April 17; 7 p.m. first snap at Lawnwood Stadium in Fort Pierce).

Win or go home.

“We’re ready for the challenge,” Crawford said.

Pahokee is the No. 7 seed in Class 1A-Region 6, while Lincoln Park Academy is the No. 2 seed.

This is the first time in school history that Pahokee will compete in the FHSAA flag football state playoffs. The Lady Blue Devils flag football program has been in existence since 2002.

Crawford offered his keys to victory for tonight for Pahokee on the Treasure Coast.

“Defensively, we just need to pull flags, stay disciplined, and stay hungry,” said Crawford, who has been with the Pahokee flag football program since 2007. “Offensively, we just need to trust the process, compete, and want it more. Overall, we just need to have fun.”

Crawford lauds every single female athlete’s overall effort this season, which has led the team to this playoff point.

“All of the girls play a crucial part in the success of this team,” Crawford said. “From the center to the kicker and everything in between, they have shown us nothing but heart. So right now, the way our hearts are setup, the way our passion for the game is grinding, it’s gonna be a great game.”

The winner of tonight’s regional quarterfinal matchup will advance to the 1A-Region 6 semifinal round, which is set for Tuesday, April 23. The season will officially end for the other team.

Here’s hoping the Pahokee Lady Blue Devils flag football team will come out on top for the upset win and yet another history-making moment.
