Do your homework: ATH Matis Gibson breaks out at 561 Showcase

LAKE WORTH BEACH – Being counted out drives Matis Gibson to display amazing things from within and without.

We have the 561 Showcase as a proof point.

Yesterday (April 28) at Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound athlete put on a clinic as a tight end in the all-important 1-on-1 drills. He caught 14 out of 15 passes thrown to him.

Suffice to say, the true athlete has no college scholarship offers at this time. Yet he used this moment to show that he is worthy of at least several as a tight end – the position he will play at as an upcoming senior this fall for the Broncos.

Watch Gibson’s breakout performance right below for yourself.

Gibson has had a high school football journey to remember as of this juncture. He started out as a freshman at Cardinal Newman before he made a transfer move to Wellington as a sophomore and then to Palm Beach Central as a junior.

The 561 Showcase’s Breakout Player has played some at quarterback and linebacker in spurts during his first three high school football seasons (Cardinal Newman – 2021; Wellington – 2022; Palm Beach Central – 2023). But 2024 will be the year that Gibson is poised to find his true position and come into his own as a tight end.

Another thing that stands out about Gibson is his ability to lead by example. He plans to spend some time in Belle Glade sometime this summer on a mission experience on the Muck with Christ Fellowship Church Belle Glade, where Danny and Maddy Mejia are the campus pastors in ministry.

Listen to Gibson speak on the planned mission experience on the Muck, his performance at the 561 Showcase, and more right below.

We are truly excited to see Gibson’s growth right before our eyes. An outstanding final high school football season for him awaits at Palm Beach Central.
