Flag football: Wellington wins first regional title in program history

LOXAHATCHEE – We witnessed a historic moment last night (April 30) at Callery R. Judge Stadium.

For the first time ever, the Wellington Lady Wolverines flag football program earned a regional title in FHSAA Class 2A-Region 6.

To show you how they got it done on the road against the venerable Seminole Ridge Lady Hawks flag football program, it is best for you to watch the highlight clips for yourself.

Clips are shown from the first, second, third, and fourth quarters of No. 3 seed Wellington’s 12-6 win over No. 1 seed Seminole Ridge (14-3 final record).

No. 3 seed and Class 2A-Region 5 champion Wellington (14-3) has one game left to win for a trip to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stadium.

On Friday, May 3 (6 p.m. first snap), this team will be traveling north to Fort Pierce for the Class 2A state quarterfinal at No. 1 seed and Class 2A-Region 5 champion Fort Pierce Central (19-1).
