College bound: ATH Reggie Workman picks Heidelberg

WEST PALM BEACH – Patience is a virtue that pays off over time.

Reggie Workman made sure to go over all of his options before making the biggest decision of his young life.

After weighing a multitude of factors, the King’s Academy ‘24 athlete chose Heidelberg as his college destination.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete shared his primary reasons for going with the Division III institution.

“Heidelberg was the first school to contact me,” Workman said. “They put their trust in me. I went on my official visit and it felt like home. Heidelberg having guys from Florida that I’ve already played and won championships with was another big part of my decision.”

Workman will be teaming up with the Division III Third Team All-American and Heidelberg senior cornerback Keyshawn Cunningham (Forest Hill ‘20 alum), defensive back Tai Peterson (Treasure Coast ‘23 alum), defensive end/linebacker Jadon Goldman (Somerset Academy Canyons; soon-to-be ‘24 alum), and offensive lineman Jalen Sime (Somerset Academy Canyons; soon-to-be ‘24 alum).

The speedy athlete finished his King’s Academy career as a senior this past season with the following statistics:

OFFENSE

•35 receptions

•530 receiving yards

•21 carries

•175 rushing yards

•12 receiving touchdowns

DEFENSE

•2 interceptions (1 interception return for touchdown)

TOTALS

•15 total touchdowns; 1,070 total yards (kickoff returns, offense at wide receiver and running back, and defensive interceptions)

Cunningham spoke briefly on Workman.

“I never played with him, but we all played at Lake Lytal,” Cunningham said of the youth football league based in West Palm Beach. “I think he was a freshman when I was a freshman in college. I’ve been watching him since Lake Lytal. I’m just proud to have him at the Berg. We’re getting a great athlete who plays two sports. I hope he does great things here.”
