BELLE GLADE – This past season ended in a level of disappointment for Glades Day’s high school football program.
Ravaged by injuries – especially at the tail end of its 2023 campaign – Glades Day finished with a 4-5 record and first-round exit in the Sunshine State Athletic Conference 5A playoffs (42-0 road loss to Oasis on Oct. 26, 2023).
Suffice to say, Glades Day does not want a repeat of 2023 in any way, shape, or form.
Spending some time at Glades Day’s spring practice yesterday (May 7), the players and coaches were focused on making the most out of each play.

Case in point: There was a play in which Octavio Muniz III (‘25 DL/OL for Glades Day) broke through two opposing linemen for his breakout moment.
Watch it unfold below for yourself.
“Ultimately as leaders, as captains, and me being a senior now especially, we need to bring that sense of urgency across the team,” Muniz said. “We need to be leaders. We need to show these younger guys what it takes to be on varsity.”
Glades Day ‘26 DL/OL Johnny Ramos chimed in.
“We need to step up and encourage people to try hard and be the best they can be,” Ramos said.
Glades Day is looking for each team member to forge solid and lasting relationships with each other to withstand and overcome adversity. This will be important as the year rolls along.
“The only way we’re going to be successful is to push each other to be the absolute best that each other can be,” Muniz III said.
Glades Day will be led primarily by ‘25 ATH Logan Wilkins, who has proven his ability to play multiple positions on the field – offense, defense, and special teams.
“The kid’s a dog,” Muniz III said. “He’s stepping up. He has some big shoes to fill because his brother (Dylan Wilkins) was one of the best quarterbacks in recent memory here at Glades Day. But ultimately, Logan has the skill and the leadership to be better.”
Logan Wilkins spoke on his steady elevation as a positive asset to Glades Day’s football program.
“I started as a freshman and I’ve just been trying to get better throughout my whole life,” Logan said. “Throughout these high school years, I’ve gained a lot of experience. I’m ready to step up to the plate. This is my year, and it’s time to fill big shoes.”
Glades Day has at least two other players that are expected to shine:
•ATH Da’Coby Wooten (2027)
•RB Micah Dixon (2028)
Watch the two interview clips below from start to finish, which feature commentary on Wooten, Dixon, Wilkins, and others.
Glades Day will be hosting Canterbury in its spring game on Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m. We will see if it can beat the Fort Myers-based team again, as the Gators prevailed in a 19-15 road win during Week 7 of the 2023 season.
