Defining moment: WR Juan Palacios

JUPITER – Look beyond the numbers and you will see someone who is a quarterback’s dream to play with and coach’s dream to coach.

Enter Juan Palacios, a 5-foot-10, 162-pound wide receiver who is in the ‘26 class at Seminole Ridge.

This tough speedster can get the ball in any situation, whether it be for tough yards to get a first down or a few yards to help extend a drive.

Watch below to see the proof of this for yourself, as this action occurred in Seminole Ridge’s spring jamboree game this past Saturday (May 18) against state powerhouse Palmetto (Miami).

Palacios would go on to help Seminole Ridge earn a 14-13 upset win over Palmetto at the Jupiter Spring Jamboree at Jupiter High School.

“We do a lot of drills at practice,” Palacios said. “I trust my quarterback [Garrett Rimes] to get me the ball, and I know he got trust in me to get us the first downs. I know the coaches are calling the right plays for us to get the first downs. I can show that I’m a trustable receiver. And I trust all my teammates to do the blocking as well.”

Rimes spoke on how Palacios has emerged as a dependable wideout.

“He’s a great route runner and has crazy good hands,” Rimes said. “He’s there when you need him. He brings good energy to the team.”

Palacios is looking to improve from how his sophomore season turned out at Seminole Ridge. He had the following statistics:

•5 catches

•75 yards

But let us go past the raw figures. As a matter of fact, Palacios was willing to share with us each catch moment he had last year with Seminole Ridge.

Here is the first of five moments.

“My first one was a comeback,” Palacios said. “We were in a second down situation and I got us the first down (John Carroll; Week 6).”

Here is the next one.

“The second one was a slant,” Palacios said. “We were also in a second down situation, and I got us the first down (Glades Central; Week 1).”

Here is the third one.

“The third one,” Palacios said. “ Quarterback rolled out and I had a slant. He was getting rushed, so I kept running across the field for the catch and got us three yards away from the first down (Glades Central; Week 1)”

Here is the next-to-last one.

“The fourth one was a slant that got us five yards from the goal line for 18 yards (Park Vista; Week 9).”

Here is the last one.

“The fifth one was a screen pass that also got us a couple of yards away from the goal line (Park Vista; Week 9).”

Palacios recapped his sophomore season at Seminole Ridge.

“My sophomore season at Seminole Ridge was extremely eventful from practice and games,” Palacios said. “I worked hard and made sure to always try and improve everything the coaches needed me to work on so I could be a better player for the team as an underclassmen. I gained a lot of football knowledge.”

Palacios did not stop there.

“What I loved about it was that I was learning a lot from the upperclassmen,” Palacios said. “I had a great group of guys who were surrounding me to wanna work harder everyday and pushed me. What could have gone differently, I really couldn’t tell you. The coaches played their part and my teammates played their part. Honestly maybe just some areas I had to work on to exceed my receiver level. But I got all of that taken care of coming into my junior season.”
