JUPITER – Garrett Rimes had himself a spring football jamboree experience to remember.

Held this past Saturday (May 18) at Jupiter High School’s, the 6-foot-3, 145-pound quarterback delivered for his team in the most pressing way possible.
Down 13-8 to state powerhouse Palmetto (Miami) with less than 45 seconds left in the game, the ‘25 quarterback from Belle Glade used his combination of patience and poise to find ‘26 wide receiver Jordan Johnson for a 9-yard touchdown pass.
This happened just one play after Seminole Ridge forced a Palmetto turnover, which made this moment possible with 24.2 seconds left.
“We just executed our plan and we came in here knowing that we have a chance,” Rimes said. “As long as we work together, we’re gonna win regardless.”
Rimes delved further into Seminole Ridge’s game-winning drive that resulted in a 14-13 upset victory, which was arguably the most shocking and awe-inspiring moment of the six-game Jupiter Spring Jamboree series.
“We just drew it up, just like our coach did,” Rimes said. “Right to Jordan. Ran simple. Played to get open.”
Watch the entire interview below by six players from Seminole Ridge after their Jupiter Spring Jamboree experience ended.
Seminole Ridge ‘26 wide receiver Juan Palacios, who caught several passes on drives in the spring games against Palmetto and Jupiter, spoke highly of Rimes and what he brings to the team.
“Garrett is an outstanding quarterback and also a great track athlete,” Palacios said. “He can play multiple positions on the field like receiver, safety, corner, and quarterback. Whenever he’s at quarterback, I trust that we will move the ball from down to down and that he will also get the ball in the receiver’s hands without a problem.”
NOTE: Seminole Ridge went 1-1 on the day, losing to Jupiter in Game 1 by a score of 14-6 and coming back against Palmetto for the 14-13 win in Game 2.
This was a breakout moment of sorts for Rimes, who broke his collarbone last season as a junior in Week 2 of the regular season against Royal Palm Beach.
In two games last year, Rimes posted the following statistics:
PASSING
5-of-7 for 51 yards
RUSHING
11 carries for 133 yards and 1 touchdown
TOTAL YARDS: 184
BEST SHOWING: Week 1 vs. Glades Central in 20-9 win with 7 carries for 103 yards and 1 rushing touchdown
Rimes spoke on his performance against Glades Central in Week 1.
“Well we had a game plan to move the ball, whether it was passing or running,” Rimes said. “But I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my O-line and receivers blocking downfield.”
Rimes did not get to finish the Week 2 game against Royal Palm Beach due to the collarbone injury.
It took the Seminole Ridge quarterback several months to recover. But he is in good spirits now, as evidenced by his inspiring performance in the Jupiter Spring Jamboree.
“I have been working out since I was cleared,” Rimes said. “I am planning to make a big impact on our team this year and make the playoffs.”
