All-around asset: ATH Landon Earl

LANTANA – Landon Earl has a lot to offer.

He can play multiple positions relatively well on both offense and defense. He is also a reliable and dependable team leader in more ways than one.

At Royal Palm Beach this past season, Earl shined in his own way. Here are his statistics to prove his worthiness as a junior in 2023.

OFFENSE

•481 passing yards

•363 rushing yards

•2 passing touchdowns

•2 rushing touchdowns

•398 all-purpose yards

•844 total yards (including passing)

DEFENSE

•1 interception

•6+ tackles (played mostly on offense last year)

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete spoke on how his junior season went at Royal Palm Beach.

“I loved playing with the guys I grew up with,” Earl said. “The guys I met freshman year, we grew up a lot together and that’s what made me love football junior year more than the other years. And I loved the fact that I started to get noticed for the hard work I put into this. I got my results on the field because of how I was able to turn nothing into something on many plays.”

Earl did not stop there.

“What could have went different is the season in general in my opinion,” Earl said. “I know our team was better than 3-7, without a doubt.”

Earl transferred from Royal Palm Beach to Santaluces in the offseason.

“I wanted a better opportunity to play football at the next level,” Earl said. “I wanted to surround myself with people who have a ton of skill and the same goals/dreams of mine. I thought that would help me go harder.”

Earl spoke on the impact that Santaluces head coach Hector Clavijo and defensive coordinator Samuel Putmon have had on his play and more in just a short time there.

“Under this coaching staff, they are helping me understand the game better and helping me get to the best shape of my life,” Earl said. “Their both not only great coaches, but great people too. They’re constantly helping me with football lessons and life lessons. They make sure my grades are good. They keep me and my teammates out of trouble. I have to thank them a lot for that.”

Earl was not able to play in the spring game last month with Santaluces. But he chose to focus on what is happening now with the summer offseason in full swing.

“So far the team and I have been to two 7-on-7’s,” said Earl, who has no offers at this time.

“We went to Georgia Tech and Florida State,” Earl continued. “We competed really well in those tournaments. And we have many more coming up also.”

Earl had more to say about the summer.

“I’ve been seeing my trainer I knew for a long time now,” Earl said. “He’s making sure I’m at the best shape I can be for the upcoming season (cleanresults is the trainer). And offseason workouts have been good with the team. We put in a lot of work with expectations running high this season.”

Speaking of the upcoming fall season, Earl shared his aspirations for the next few months ahead.

“My individual goal is to be better than I was last year,” Earl said. “I want to be first team all-county next year and get some offers this year. I want to have my first winning record in high school football. And for our team goals, we want nothing less than states. We want to hold teams down to low scores on defense and let the offense do their job by scoring points.”
