More history made: Webber extends flag football offer to Kyunja Worthen

PAHOKEE – A Pahokee Lady Blue Devils flag football player is officially on the radar for the next level.

Quarterback Kyunja Worthen (Class of 2025) has earned her first collegiate scholarship offer today (June 25) from Webber International.

This is a big deal in the world of flag football and on the Muck because she is the third female player in the program’s history to accomplish such a feat.

The others were Shakera Humphrey and Antensia Woods, who were the first two Pahokee female players ever to receive a college scholarship offer. They received theirs from Warner in 2020, according to Pahokee flag football head coach Bryan Crawford.

Going back to Worthen now, she reflected on what the Webber offer means to her.

“I’m goin to be honest,” Worthen said. “I was nervous and I was having mixed emotions. Webber has a very good program from what I experienced. They have a very good camp. The coaches take their time to teach you and they help you improve your skills. There is good communication with all the coaches and the girls. I think it’s a very good program that girls can pursue their skills and dreams.”

Worthen has been having a year to remember. She helped lead Pahokee to its first-ever flag football district title in April and has led her team in two flag football tournaments this month (Evan Neal Flag Football Tournament on June 8; Battle of the Village Flag Football Tournament from June 21-23).

We are looking forward to more great things from Worthen in the near future. Stay tuned for further updates on her recruiting process and more.
