Keiser 7-on-7: Atlantic tops Cardinal Newman in final seconds to win title

WEST PALM BEACH – A total of 16 teams entered this year’s Keiser 7-on-7 Tournament at Keiser University.

It had the feel of every single entrant having a legitimate shot of winning it all. It would not have surprised anyone if an underdog came out on top.

Here were the 16 teams in the June 29 tourney:

•Atlantic (Delray Beach)

•Benjamin

•Cardinal Newman

•Dr. Joaquin Garcia

•Fort Pierce Central

•Fort Pierce Westwood

•Jensen Beach

•Jupiter Christian

•King’s Academy

•Martin County

•Palm Beach Central

•St. Andrews

•Santaluces

•Seminole Ridge

•Vero Beach

•West Boca Raton

Every single team had some great moments throughout their three pool play games and their playoff games. But at the end of the day, only two teams can battle it out for the title.

There has never been a repeat winner in the Keiser 7-on-7 Tournament. And this trend continued today as Fort Pierce Westwood (2023 champion) reached the semifinals before bowing out in a loss to co-tournament favorite Cardinal Newman (6-0 prior to the title game).

The other tournament favorite – Atlantic – overcame pool play (0-2-1) to have an amazing playoff run.

In the final, both Atlantic and Cardinal Newman traded scores early and often. It was a great one for both quarterbacks (Lincoln Graf – Atlantic; Jyron Hughley – Cardinal Newman), as each threw four touchdown passes to lead their teams.

Watch some of the action below.

It came down to the final seconds, as Cardinal Newman attempted to rally from a late 28-21 deficit.

Watch below to see how the title game ended.

After Atlantic (4-2-1 final record) went on to celebrate its first tournament title in at least recent memory over Cardinal Newman (6-1 final record), ESPN West Palm Beach (tournament host at Keiser) presented 2025 wide receiver and Appalachian State verbal commit Teddy Hoffman with the MVP honor.

Hoffman spoke on his well-deserved MVP honor and more.

We also got reactions from Atlantic head coach Jamelle Murray.

SIDE NOTE: This concludes Keiser Football’s month-long series of individual camps, team camps, and 7-on-7’s, which started on Friday, May 31 and ended on Saturday, June 29.

New Keiser head coach and West Boca Raton alum Myles Russ and his coaching staff have assembled a series of experiences to remember for high school students and teams from Palm Beach County, the Treasure Coast, and beyond.

We will now turn the page to the month of July, which is officially the second half of the summer offseason.
