The 6-foot-1, 180-pound standout defender has been ranked as Muck City Media’s No. 7-ranked overall player from the Class of 2025. He has picked up offers recently from Eastern Michigan and Wagner.

It helps to have at least one shining moment in front of college coaches at a game. For Charles, this happened in the Palm Beach Gardens Spring Jamboree on Saturday, May 18.

You can watch the action below.

Charles spoke on his spring football circuit action that Eastern Michigan assistant football coach and Treasure Coast area native Kasey Teegardin got to see for himself.

“It was really great,” Charles said. “I remember during that whole week during practice I just knew I was going to perform and show out in the jamboree. And when it was time to play, I showed out because I knew I had to prove to people that I’m one of the best players in the 772.”

Charles earned his first offer from Wagner after his masterful spring showcase took place.

Not long after that, Charles embarked on a special college tour with the Treasure Coast Elite 7-on-7 football program. It turned out to be a second opportunity to impress Teegardin and the Eastern Michigan coaching staff, which happened at the Mercer Mega Camp on Saturday, June 1.

Charles would go on to earn his second offer from Eastern Michigan during the second half of the Treasure Coast Elite College Tour.

The Treasure Coast Titans standout spoke on how it felt to get offered by Teegardin and the Eastern Michigan coaching staff.

“At the Mercer Camp, Coach Teegardin and Coach [Munir] Prince came up to me,” Charles said. “Well Coach Teegardin was a really cool and chill person when I met him at the camp I attended. He said he loves showing love and being able to recruit players from where he’s from. He was really an outgoing and friendly person when I met him.”

Charles and quite a few of his fellow underclassmen from the Treasure Coast got to experience campus stops at Mercer, Albany State, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Duke, NC Central, NC State, and South Carolina.

The Treasure Coast Elite College Tour lasted from Friday, May 31 to Thursday, June 6.

“During the college tour, the experience I had was incredible,” Charles said. “I had the opportunity to visit and speak to so many coaches and it was really an eye opener for me. It really showed me what I have to do to be able to play at the next level after high school.”

Charles touched on how his recruiting process is going right now as a whole.

“My recruitment process has been going good and I’m still speaking with college coaches,” Charles said. “What I can say about Eastern Michigan is that I really like the program. The coaches are amazing and made me feel like I was family, especially Coach TeeHardin, Coach [Chris] Creighton, and Coach Prince. Wagner is also a good school, and I like their program as well.”

Charles reflected back on how his junior season turned out, which directly led to the opportunity he has now to secure college scholarship offers. He posted the following statistics:

•38 solo tackles

•9 pass breakups

•2 interceptions

Best individual game: Week 3 vs. Seminole (Sanford) in 14-9 home win with six tackles and three pass breakups

“What I love about my junior season was really the environment with being around my team because it felt like family, and every day at practice was amazing,” Charles said. “There’s not much I could say that could have gone differently for me. I was just grateful to be put in a position like this and be surrounded by my wonderful teammates.”

As Charles works to improve his craft further in the summer offseason with team workouts and drills, he is focused now on having an upcoming senior season to remember with Treasure Coast.

“My individual goal is to have a better season than last year and get more interceptions,” Charles said. “My goals for my team are to be district champions again, and with a lot of dedication and hard work, we can even try to make it to states.”
