To see how and why this is the case, all it takes is for one to look at the 2025 running back’s statistics and film.

We will get to that right now.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound offensive force got the following this past season:

•1,094 all-purpose yards

•949 rushing yards

•13 rushing touchdowns

•145 receiving yards

•1 receiving touchdown

Mejia’s best individual games were Week 6 against Somerset Prep in a 43-0 win (145 total yards, 4 total touchdowns) and Week 9 against Port St. Lucie in a 36-27 win (155+ total yards, 4 touchdowns).

Mejia on his junior season with South Fork:

“I really loved the support of my teammates,” Mejia said. “I feel we had a really successful season for the most part. We all worked really hard together as a team. What I really loved was just playing as a family and as a brotherhood.”

Mejia did not stop there.

“What I feel that there could have been more effort put into certain games and that could have changed the outcome of our season,” Mejia said. “But for the most part, we strived as a team and had a successful season we’re only building on now.”

Mejia touched on the impact that South Fork head coach and alum Antwan Blatch has had on his overall development and the entire program at large.

“Coach Blatch is an amazing coach,” Mejia said. “He’s always there for us on and off the field. He always is pushing and striving us to not only become better football players, but better men off the field as well. He is a great role model and he does a tremendous job supporting us and the South Fork program.”

At this time, Mejia’s on-field production has led to his first offer to Southeastern on Friday, May 17. He spoke on this milestone moment and more.

“During spring I was in contact with a lot of coaches coming to visit me at school,” Mejia said. “Southeastern being one of them, they pulled the trigger and offered me. It was a great experience getting that first offer, and I will be attending their camp this Friday (July 19). But as of right now, the recruiting process has been slow. I’m waiting for some more opportunities to pop, and I know once my name is out there, then there will be a lot more opportunities.”

Mejia, who has run the 40-yards dash in 4.68 seconds, touched on how his offseason has been going to date.

“I have been getting a lot of work in at South Fork for summer workouts by lifting weights and trying to gain some weight for this upcoming season,” Mejia said. “I’m also on the field doing a lot of footwork and agility for speed. I will do some solo field sessions at the park by just perfecting and critiquing my craft at the running back and wide receiver positions. I will also be participating in Southeastern’s camp this upcoming Friday to show them what my skills are all about.”

Mejia shared his aspirations for this upcoming fall season at South Fork.

“As a season goal, I want to reach around 1500-2000 all-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns,” Mejia said. “You already know how it is as a team though. We’re reaching for that 10-0, you know. Sky’s the limit. And I would love to win a district title with my guys. I want to reach some accomplishments this year that I can share with my guys.”
