PALM BEACH GARDENS – Jayden Vega is Ivy League bound.
The Benjamin 2025 quarterback made his final college recruiting decision last night (July 23) by going with Brown as his next destination.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound signal caller and lacrosse attack superstar spoke on what led him to choose Brown for both football and lacrosse.
“I chose Brown University because it offers incredible academic opportunities which can set me up for life along with being able to play lacrosse and football at a high level,” said Vega, who currently has a 3.9 grade point average.
“Newly hired head lacrosse coach Jon Torpey has been recruiting me to play lacrosse since he was the head coach at High Point University,” Vega continued. “He is a very driven and motivated coach who I believe can take my game to the next level. For football, Coach James Perry is an incredible coach. He has made me feel very welcomed and is excited about me joining the Brown family.”
Vega had other options as well. They included the likes on UNC Charlotte and a few more.
“I was being recruited by several schools for lacrosse to include Air Force, the Naval Academy, Maryland, Jacksonville and Penn State. Several offered me opportunities to potentially play both,” Vegas said. “However after evaluating my options and getting to know Coach Torpey, it was a pretty easy decision. Brown offered me an opportunity of a lifetime.”
For his junior year, Vega posted the following statistics in both football and lacrosse:
FOOTBALL
•1,687 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, 4 interceptions; 62.58 completion percentage, 126.0 QBR
LACROSSE
•55 goals with 28 assists and 28 ground balls; helped lead Benjamin to Class 1A state title

Vega reflected on his accomplishments as a junior.
“I loved the commitment to excellence the coaches and players brought each and every day,” Vega said. “Coach [Eric] Kresser is extremely demanding of his quarterbacks and I wouldn’t want it any other way. He always pushes me to get better in every aspect of the game. He’s a great teacher. I also really loved the level of competition Coach Kresser schedules for us. We are a small private school and we play top public schools from around the state. I think competition brings out the best in each and everyone one of us.”
Vega did not stop there.
“I also have to say playing a small role in bringing Benjamin lacrosse their first state championship was an absolute highlight,” Vega said. “To play for coaches Peter Cordrey, Duncan Clancy and Luke Ousdigian has been an unbelievable experience. Plus, I was blessed to play and win a championship with so many of my teammates that I have played with since youth lacrosse.”
Vega also touched on his offseason has gone this summer on the football front in particular.
“We’ve been training and throwing together since football season has ended,” Vega said. “Football never ends at the Benjamin School. Coach Kresser and our team have set lofty expectations for the season. We’ve added some incredible players to our already talented roster. Dylan Furshman, Preston Douglas and Braydon Charney, just to name a few.”
Vega shared his senior season aspirations.
“I don’t like to set individual specific goals for myself,” Vega said. “It’s a team sport and I’m willing to play any role in order for us to win. That’s the only stat that matters. I think we had a successful season last year, but we still have a lot to prove. We have an extremely challenging schedule ahead of us and we are looking forward to it.”
