VERO BEACH – He may be undersized at 5-foot-7, 192 pounds right now.
But he will not allow his size and frame to serve as a limitation on the field in any way, shape, or form.
This is the case of Vero Beach 2025 linebacker Affeon Rivers, who has a story to tell through his film and more.

As a junior, the Indians defender recorded the following statistics in 12 games played:
•85 total tackles
•11 tackles for loss
•9 quarterbacks hurries
•6 sacks
•3 fumble recoveries
•1 pass breakup
•1 interception
Rivers on his junior season with Vero Beach:
“Between Miami Northwestern and the second round playoff game against Treasure Coast, I was balling,” Rivers said. “I loved that I got to show my work ethic and my skill set as an undersized linebacker. I believe I did everything that I could.”
For the moment, Rivers does not have a scholarship offer. But he is patiently waiting for that to happen at the right time.
“I talked to a couple of Division I schools,” Rivers said. “It’s been a little complicated, but I can take and understand that with my height being a big factor. But in reality, it don’t mean nothing to me because I’m a dog. A lot of people know that and are going to know that.”
Here is some more proof of what Rivers can do.
As we get closer to the start of this fall season, Rivers (No. 17-ranked player on the Treasure Coast; 2025 class) has been doing everything possible to improve his overall craft in more ways than one.
“I bettered myself in this offseason by being in the weight room more,” Rivers said. “I have been getting more explosive, getting better ball skills, playing man to man and reading my keys better on receivers, guards and tackles. I feel like I have also improved myself as a leader.”
One highlight for Rivers this summer was his participation in the Keiser 7-on-7 Tournament last month (June 29). Rivers helped Vero Beach reach the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
“It was fun to play in it,” Rivers said. “I did a lot of good things there. It helped me more with my ball skills.”
All of this had led to Rivers claiming what his upcoming senior season should be like with Vero Beach.
“My individual goal is to have a great senior year with 100+ tackles, 10 sacks, two interceptions, one pick-six, four fumble recoveries, and two scoops and scores,” Rivers said. “My team goals are for us to win a district championship and win a state championship. And in game situations, where we would be down, I’ll have teammates that don’t play the point the finger game. We will stay calm and just ball out. We will come back and succeed.”
