The 6-foot-1, 200-pound athlete has picked up six offers in the process:

•Air Force

•Navy

•Dartmouth

•Penn

•Brown

•Bucknell

After weighing his options, Avin went with Air Force as his college football destination on Saturday, July 27.

Avin on Air Force:

“I got along well with the coaching staff, especially with the defensive backs coach [Charlie Jackson],” Avin said. “I liked the facilities and the players, which made it feel like home. Most importantly I saw myself fitting in with the team and how I can propel myself forward athletically. Last, the school aligned with my goals academically as well.”

What directly led Avin to this opportunity is his play from last season, which was at Treasure Coast.

Watch Avin’s film below to see for yourself.

Avin on his junior season at Treasure Coast:

“My junior season at Treasure Coast was pretty good,” Avin said. “We went 8-2 in the regular season and had a deep playoff run, but came to an end by losing to DeLand for the [Class 4S] regional finals. I came to understand the ultimate goal we were trying to achieve. I was also able to play both sides, which ultimately helped me in the long term because my recruitment has mostly due to my defensive film. I love the brotherhood and enivornment that head coach Irvin Jones was able to create also.”

Not long after Avin’s junior season ended, he made a decision to transfer from Treasure Coast to Cardinal Newman.

Avin on his transfer move:

“Getting to the next level always has always been a dream of mines,” Avin said. “Head coach Jack Daniels is a great coach who helps develop players. Also, he has a track record of sending his players to college.”

Avin has had an offseason to remember. It has been highlighted by his verbal commitment to Air Force, his transfer from Treasure Coast to Cardinal Newman, and his tenacious quest to improve his overall craft through workouts, camps, and 7-on-7 tournaments.

We will show you some of the offseason action that has taken place with Avin.

“Since summer started, I have been going to several camps, going to most of the schools in North Carolina,” said Avin, who visited the likes of Wake Forest, Duke, NC State, North Carolina, and Maryland.

“I have also been playing 7-on-7 with Hotbed x Reign, which has helped develop my craft by playing corner and safety,” Avin continued. “I have had training with my school for summer workouts, which has helped with getting ready and in shape for the season. Most importantly, I train by myself, whether that is lifting at my house or doing drills at a park nearby.”

Now that we are in fall football practice mode, Avin’s focus is solely on his upcoming senior season with Cardinal Newman. He shared his aspirations for the next few months ahead.

“The main goal is to win the state championship this year,” Avin said. “For my personal goals, I just want to become a better player and make sure to elevate my craft to be college ready.”
