True brotherhood: Moore Haven Terriers seek to bring communities together

MOORE HAVEN – We have entered a rare moment in our area’s illustrious history.

For the first time in at least recent memory, the Moore Haven Terriers are represented by at least five communities – all of which are on the south end of Lake Okeechobee. Here are the following cities that this year’s Terriers collective will be featured by:

Moore Haven; Glades County

Clewiston; East end of Hendry County

South Bay; Muck area of Palm Beach County

Belle Glade; Muck area of Palm Beach County

Pahokee; Muck area of Palm Beach County

In addition to that, Moore Haven will have three players who hail from LaBelle, a community that is on the west end of Hendry County and about 30 minutes west of Clewiston.

So with that being said, this is the second part of our True Brotherhood series with the Terriers.

The focus will be on Clewiston now, as the first part focused on the Muck communities of South Bay, Belle Glade, and Pahokee.

We have four Moore Haven Terriers who hail from Clewiston in this group photo at Moore Haven Media Day on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024 at Moore Haven Junior-Senior High School in Moore Haven, Fla..

At this time, we will show you a few clips of what four Moore Haven players from Clewiston contributed to the program’s Media Day on Monday (Aug. 5). Hear their words below.

Moore Haven incoming junior linebacker/fullback Justin Hernandez made sure to credit head coach Emanuel Hendrix, the individual who led the way in making this special brotherhood collective happen.

“Great coach,” Hernandez said. “He brought a lot since last year, when he was just a defensive coordinator. He’s done a lot for us and will continue to do a lot for us. He’s really tough and grit. So that’s what he brings to this team mainly. He wants you to compete at every level. Every chance that you get, 110 percent no matter what.”

We will let you hear the entirety of what the Clewiston-based group had to say about Hendrix as their head coach.

PLEASE NOTE: The third part of our True Brotherhood series will feature the primary homegrown Moore Haven players. Expect to see this feature sometime tomorrow (Aug. 8).
