On Wednesday (Aug. 7), the 6-foot-1, 280-pound offensive lineman from Moore Haven earned his first college scholarship offer from Clarke, a NAIA school based in Dubuque, Iowa.

Watson spoke on his Clarke offer and how he felt about it.

“When I first got it, I was so excited and felt blessed because I knew I had the ability to play college ball and the skills for it,” the Moore Haven 2025 offensive lineman said. “But I wasn’t getting the opportunity yet until this week. When I got my offer, I was like in shock because I knew I had the possibility and the opportunity to play college ball.”

Watson shared how new Moore Haven head coach Emanuel Hendrix played a role in him earning his way to being on the college football recruiting radar now.

“Well with Coach Cash, he has tried to help me a lot,” Watson said. “He’s always bringing coaches in to talk to us and getting to know us and sending our film out to coaches to try to get us somewhere. It’s kinda like his priority. It feels like because to me, it seems like his biggest goal is to get Moore Haven its first state championship, which we are, and to get us all to college where we will be most successful at. He puts us in the position to do that.”

Watson’s junior season with Moore Haven was a breakout one of sorts. Here are his statistics.

•56 pancakes on offense

•29 tackles on defense

Best individual game: Week 7 in 22-20 road win over Fort Pierce Westwood with three pancakes on offense, along with four tackles and one sack on defense

“It was very difficult cause they had some dogs at d-line,” Watson said. “But you got to do what you gotta do in the trenches.”

Watson reflected on his junior season at Moore Haven.

“My favorite part about last season is probably about our brotherhood and love for our teammates,” Watson said. “There was nothing better than going out every Friday and whooping almost every team we came up against. And the run to the play off man, those are always the best. It’s a different atmosphere  with me and my teammates in the playoffs, but I do wish we could have gone further in it.”

For the offseason, Watson did everything he could to improve his craft as a lineman through a series of workouts and camps.

“You know the workouts with Coach Cash and Coach Simmons ain’t no joke at all,” Watson said. “We would work out by doing about an hour of agility and then doing about an hour of practice and conditioning, making sure we’re ready this year. And then I went to a couple camps being the USF Camp, which I went 5-0 on 1-on-1’s, and the FIU Camp, where I went 3-0 in 1-on-1’s.”

With the fall season officially starting with Week 1 in less than two weeks, Watson shared his aspirations for his final campaign with Moore Haven.

“My individual goal is to go play somewhere where I can get a full ride, play ball, and get my education,” Watson said. “Education is the most important thing to me. And then football is my way to get there and be successful as a man. And of course, to get that ring. Our team goal is to be the best around the lake and the best in Florida. We want to strike fear into others when they see us on a schedule and make our way to the chip.”
