PORT ST. LUCIE – The Centennial Eagles have a play who made meaningful strides as a freshman last season.
Make sure you remember this name: Jermonty Kimbrough Jr.

The 2027 athlete currently has three offers from Purdue, Appalachian State, and Western Kentucky. He earned them all by way of his on-field performance this past year for Centennial.
Here are Kimbrough’s statistics from his freshman campaign:
•55 tackles on defense
•18 pass breakups on defense
•8-yard rushing touchdown on offense
Kimbrough spoke on his freshman season at Centennial.
“It was alright,” the 5-foot-10, 175-pound athlete said. “A lot of ups and downs. Just a lot of learning. Definitely got better though. Had to catch up to the speed of the game. Definitely building the right way.”
Kimbrough on his best individual game of this past season:
“I would definitely say it was PSL (Port St. Lucie) with the game-winning pick,” he said of Centennial’s season-ending 13-6 win in Week 11. “We stopped their momentum, pulled it all on us, and just iced the game.”
Going back to the college recruiting process, Kimbrough spoke on the three aforementioned schools that have offered him to date.
“Great schools, great programs,” Kimbrough said. “I like what’s going on with their schools.”
Kimbrough has been working out year-round with a special trainer from the Muck. He said that G.E.D. (Grind Every Day) founder and Pahokee native Clint Everett has been helping him out tremendously with his skill techniques and conditioning in off-field workouts.
“Coach Clint, he’s a great guy,” said Kimbrough, who has been working out with Everett since he was in seventh grade at 11 years old. “Just a teacher. Fundamentals first. Coaches you up. Helps you with your mistakes. Movement specialist for real.”
Kimbrough started out in the seventh and eighth grades at Berean Christian (West Palm Beach) and then transferred to Centennial as a freshman. And now that he will be a sophomore with Centennial, Kimbrough went ahead to share his aspirations on how he wants this season to look like.
“Looking for a very good performance,” Kimbrough said. “Running the alley. Getting to it on both sides of the ball. Putting it in the box. Catching the guy in the air and coming down with it.”
Kimbrough on Centennial head coach Coach Turay and his team of coaches:
“Great coaching staff,” Kimbrough said. “All fundamental teachers. Movement specialists for real. They coach us up and correct our mistakes. Real leaders.”
Centennial 2025 wide receiver and team leader Paul Burris spoke of Kimbrough’s overall on-field potential.
“I have been working with him since freshman year,” Burris said. “He’s gonna be something.”
