Thursday Night Action: Dwyer powers past Royal Palm Beach in 21-6 win

ROYAL PALM BEACH – This one could have gone either way between Dwyer and Royal Palm Beach on Thursday night (Sept. 12).

The end result went Dwyer’s way as it earned a 21-6 road win over Royal Palm Beach.

Locked in a scoreless tie for almost the entire first half, the Panthers broke through with a touchdown pass from senior quarterback Koden Brown to junior athlete Rauol Brown with 4.5 seconds left in the second quarter.

With an extra point by sophomore kicker Andrew Fiedor, Dwyer took a 7-0 lead over Royal Palm Beach that went into halftime.

The second half was mostly about Dwyer, and it came down to two possessions in particular.

We will show you in clips how they both ended.

We can say that Dwyer junior running Sylvia Joseph (5-foot-8, 180 pounds) powered his way to get two rushing touchdowns en route to a 21-0 lead later on in the second half. We can also say that Fiedor connected on all three of his extra point attempts.

This was enough for Dwyer to hold on for its first win of the season over Royal Palm Beach, which got the game’s final score on a 1-yard touchdown run from sophomore sensation Demetrice Rolle.

With the win, Dwyer improved to 1-3 and 1-0 in District 12-6 play.

Meanwhile, Royal Palm Beach dropped to 3-1 and 0-1 in District 12-6A play.

Royal Palm Beach sophomore quarterback Max Griner and head coach Chuck Kenyon took the time to reflect on their learning experience from Thursday night against Dwyer.
