True hybrid: LB Samuel Bryant III

DELRAY BEACH – Samuel Bryant III has proven to be a valuable asset on the defensive side of the ball.

The 6-foot-2, 212-pound linebacker is a hybrid of sorts, as he can play multiple positions if needed. If one takes the time to watch his film, you can see and understand how and why he has three committable FBS offers from:

•UT-Martin

•West Georgia

•Central Arkansas

Bryant on UT-Martin, West Georgia, and Central Arkansas:

“All of them show love,” Bryant said. “And all have great relationships with me.”

There is no specific word yet on when Bryant will end his college recruiting process. We will need to stay tuned for further updates from him on that.

As a senior, Bryant is making the most of his time at Atlantic (Delray Beach). He made the decision to transfer there from Inlet Grove, his previous team and school for his freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons.

Bryant spoke on his decision this past offseason to transfer from Inlet Grove to Atlantic.

“My junior season at Inlet Grove went good but could’ve went better,” said Bryant, who finished with 79 total tackles, 35 solo tackles, seven sacks, and one pass deflection this past season. “I loved the brotherhood that was at Inlet and I don’t think it could’ve gone differently. But as for me going to Atlantic, it’s just the culture there. We are trying to build something at Atlantic, and I see this program as a great fit for me.”

Bryant has played for three head coaches in his high school football career, two of who are from the Muck. He started with Alphonso Smith (Pahokee legend) and then continued with Rashad Jackson (Glades Central alum) before finishing it out with current Atlantic head coach Jamelle Murray.

Under Murray’s leadership, Bryant has recorded the following statistics in five regular season games played:

•51 total tackles

•12 tackles for loss

•1 forced fumble

In Bryant’s most recent game against The First Academy (Orlando) on Friday, Sept. 20 (41-28 road loss), he recorded 11 tackles and three tackles for loss. This Week 5 game was perhaps his best overall showing on the high school football level, given the quality of opponent that he and Atlantic faced last week.

But statistically, Bryant’s best high school football game came in Week 2, when Atlantic (4-1) took down Jonesboro (Ga.) at home in a 53-13 win. He won the New Era Prep Defensive Player of Week 2 honor by recording 16 total tackles and four tackles for loss.

We are looking forward to an amazing second half of the season from our awesome senior linebacker. The sky is the limit for Bryant’s potential both on and off the field.
