BOCA RATON – Brody Costolo is the heart and soul of the Boca Raton Bobcats defense.

The 2025 linebacker has posted the following statistics in six games played this season:
•63 tackles
•10 tackles for loss
•5 fumble recoveries; 2 for touchdowns
•3 forced fumbles
•2 sacks
•4 pass breakups
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound linebacker had his best game of the season to date in Week 7 at home against Royal Palm Beach.
In a 9-7 win that improved Boca Raton to 6-0 on the season, Costolo registered the following stats:
•15 total tackles
•2 forced fumbles
•1 fumble recovery for touchdown
•1 sack
•1 pass breakup
Costolo made the game’s most impactful play in the first quarter, when he recovered a lost fumble for an easy score that gave Boca Raton a 6-0 lead over Royal Palm Beach.
Costolo spoke on his game-changing play.
“I shot the gap,” Costolo said. “Met the runner in the whole. Ripped the ball out. Then it was off to the races.”
After Costolo’s defensive touchdown, junior Robert Perham made the extra point to extend Boca Raton’s lead to 7-0.
The home team recorded a safety in the second quarter for a 9-0 lead and held off a Royal Palm Beach rally for the two-point win.
“The season is going great as we are undefeated,” Costolo said. “The team is playing as one and everyone is all in. I love the chemistry and heart this team has.”
Another great game that Costolo has had this season was in a 36-0 home win over Lake Worth in Week 4. He posted the following statistics:
•11 tackles
•2 tackles for loss
•2 fumble recoveries; 1 for touchdown
•1 forced fumble
Costolo, who has no offers at this time, will be looking to see how he can parlay his production into an Ivy League scholarship in the offseason. But for now, he is enjoying the moment right here and right now with the Bobcats.
Costolo spoke highly of defensive line coach and Belle Glade native Steven Leggett, as well as head coach Alex Savakinas. He firmly believes they have been instrumental in the team’s success to date.
“Coach Leggett is from the Muck and he cares about teaching the technique of our d-line. He is one of the best coaches in the area,” Costolo said. “Coach Sav is a football wiz that loves the X’s and O’s but also knows how to get the best out of his players.”
