CAROL CITY – Randy Phillips III is on the cusp of possibly leading the Carol City Chiefs (Miami) to a postseason spot tonight (Oct. 14).

This moment comes as the son of Belle Glade native, Glades Central Raiders, and Miami Hurricanes Randy Phillips Jr. is seeing some positive moment in his college recruiting process.
We will touch on how the offers are rolling first for the 6-foot-7, 190-pound quarterback.
The first offer for Phillips III came from defending NAIA national champion Keiser on Sept. 11.
Phillips III spoke briefly on how he felt about this breakthrough moment.
“I was excited and very blessed to have an opportunity at college ball,” said Phillips III, who transferred from South Broward this past offseason.
Phillips III is being patient with his recruiting process.
“I have all the intangibles to be a top quarterback,” Phillips III said. “I just need put on some weight and more speed. I’ll be good.”
Phillips III touched on what he has learned from his father, who is a Muck legend in his own right.
“I learned to take everything seriously and to make sure to work hard at everything,” said Phillips III, who has gained interest from the likes of FIU and New Mexico. “It will all come together.”
Now with the recruiting process covered for Phillips III at this time, the focus now is on the remainder of the regular season and possibly the Class 2A playoffs.
After six games played, Phillips III has posted the following statistics:
•63-of-104 passing for 974 yards, 8 touchdowns, 5 interceptions; 60.6 completion percentage
Best individual game: Week 1 against Hialeah in a 28-16 win on Saturday, Aug. 24; 18-of-26 passing for 316 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception
At this time, Carol City (3-3) has a 1-1 record in District 14-2A. It has the 28-16 win over Hialeah and a 12-7 loss to Monsignor Pace (Miami) (5-2) in Week 6.
Now if Carol City takes care of business tonight (6 p.m. kickoff) against North Miami Beach (2-4) in its District 14-2A finale, a playoff spot is within reach.
With that said, Phillips III cares about only one thing now.
“Winning,” he said.
