WEST PALM BEACH – It is safe to say that the Keiser Seahawks have completed their best regular season in school history.
Under first-year head coach Myles Russ, No. 1-ranked Keiser finished the regular season with a 9-0 overall record and its third straight Sun Conference title with a 6-0 record. The Seahawks got it done at home last night (Nov. 16) in a convincing 52-21 win over the Ave Maria Gyrenes (3-7 final record; 2-5 in Sun Conference play).
Something to note: For the first time in school history, Keiser went wire-to-wire with the NAIA’s No. 1 ranking. This means that the Seahawks began defending their first national title at No. 1 and never relinquished the top spot all the way to the very end of the regular season.
Top performances from Senior Night included the following:
•Quarterback Shea Spencer: 15-for-22, 234 yards, 4 touchdowns, 2 interceptions

•Running back Andrew Burnette: 17 carries, 121 yards, 1 touchdown
•Wide receiver Louis Averhart III: 3 receptions, 79 yards
•Wide receiver Renefo Vangates: 5 receptions, 78 yards, 2 touchdowns
•Linebacker Hunter Hargrave: 7 tackles, 1 pass breakup
•Defensive lineman Bam Brima: 5 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 forced fumble
•Defensive back Justin Carcel: 3 tackles, 1 pass breakup, 1 interception
•Defensive lineman Tai Lologo: 2 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 fumble recovery
Keiser gained 526 total yards, while allowing 323 total yards to Ave Maria.
As a result of this effort, Keiser has earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NAIA playoffs.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR KEISER
As the No. 1 overall seed, all playoff games will be at home for the second consecutive season. Additionally, Keiser will get to enjoy a first-round bye.
The next game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 30. The opponent and kickoff time will be announced at a later date.
