BOCA RATON – We have a homegrown product who made Muck City history on the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Belle Glade native and West Boca Raton (Fla.) senior cornerback Damon Allen was the first-ever player from the rising program to sign his letter of intent with FAU.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defender received an offer from the Owls on Jan. 19 and pledged his verbal commitment to the American Athletic Conference (AAC) school on April 16.
Allen is happy to have not wavered from his mission to play college football at FAU, which is located in Boca Raton (Fla.). He spoke at length about his journey from the Muck to FAU as his college destination.
“It feels good to be one of the first signees in history,” Allen said after the Early National Signing Day ceremony ended at the West Boca Raton High School Auditorium. “It feels really special to play for the Owls.”
Allen sees his himself playing an integral role in the future resurgence of FAU, which just finished its 2024 season with a 3-9 overall record and replaced former head coach Tom Herman – who was fired on Nov. 18 after posting a 6-16 record in less than two seasons at the held – new head coach Zach Kittley on Dec. 2.
“We’re gonna turn it around with all the commits we got,” Allen said. “We’re gonna change the program throughout the year, and I believe FAU will be special. I see myself playing in the rotation. But either way, whatever way God takes me, it’s okay.”
According to multiple reports, FAU landed 17 recruits from the Class of 2025, with ten high school seniors on offense and seven on defense. Allen is one of three players from Palm Beach County who signed their letters of intent with FAU – the others are offensive lineman Landon Rapkiewicz (Benjamin) and wide receiver Branden Hoch (St. Thomas Aquinas; transfer this past offseason from West Boca Raton).
With that being said, Allen is also focused on helping West Boca Raton make history as the program’s first-ever football state champion. The Bulls (13-0) have reached the Class 6A state semifinal round and will host Miami Southridge (12-2) on Friday, Dec. 6 with a kickoff time set for 7 p.m.
Please note: West Boca Raton is the No. 1 overall seed in Class 6A, while Southridge is the No. 4 overall seed remaining in the playoffs.
“It’s great to be on one of the first teams in Boca Raton history to win a regional final,” said Allen, who transferred from Palm Beach Central this past offseason. “It feels special to be in the Final Four.”
In 13 games this season, Allen has recorded the following statistics:
•34 total tackles; 2 tackles for loss
•8 pass breakups
•4 interceptions
•1 forced fumble
•1 sack
Best individual game: Week 12 against Royal Palm Beach in 48-7 home win; two tackles, two interceptions for 48 yards
Allen spoke on the regular season finale against Royal Palm Beach.
“It felt good to play against my old school,” said Allen, who played for Royal Palm Beach as a freshman before transferring to Palm Beach Central for his sophomore and junior seasons. “It was probably my best game ever.”
Allen caught an interception in Week 2 on the road against Palm Beach Central. On the interception play, he was covering former Broncos teammate, senior wide receiver, and Louisville signee Kamaree Williams.
“He’s definitely a great receiver,” Allen said of Williams. “He helped me get better from where I was last year. He helped me get to where I am today.”
West Boca Raton head coach Dylan Potts spoke highly of Allen, one of two seniors who signed their letters of intent on Early National Signing Day – linebacker/defensive back Aaron Ford Jr. (Alabama State signee) was the other one.
“When Damon came here, he was just a kid that was hungry to go play at the next level,” Potts said. “Obviously you can see the hunger in his face the day he stepped on campus. He really bought into everything and just trusted the process. I’m just super excited for him and his family. FAU is getting one of the best DB’s not only in the state of Florida, but the country.”
Allen started out in Belle Glade and continued his growth process through Royal Palm Beach and Palm Beach Central in Wellington before it took a turn south to West Boca Raton. He is proud of who he is and what he represents.
“It’s special to be from the Muck,” Allen said.
