ATLANTA – Matis Gibson has officially wrapped up his high school football career on top.
The Palm Beach Central 2025 tight end made the most of his weekend at the Football Hotbed Senior Bowl in Atlanta by showing why he was ranked as the No. 1 tight end in Palm Beach County.
For the fifth annual showcase on Sunday night (Jan. 19), Gibson recorded 109 receiving yards and one touchdown to win Offensive MVP honors. He scored off a 25-yard pass that was caught in double coverage as he was seen dragging down a defender en route to the end zone.

Gibson has proven to be mostly unstoppable in his senior season when he gets a reception. It’s his unique combination of size, football speed, and power that makes him tough to guard and cover – especially in space.
And with that, Gibson is the only 2025 player in Palm Beach County to win two All-Star Game MVP honors – the other one coming last month as he was named the Palm Beach County All-Star Game Offensive MVP in December 2024.
Here are the honors that Gibson has racked up:
•Football Hotbed Senior Bowl Offensive MVP
•Palm Beach County All-Star Game Offensive MVP
•561 Showcase Tight End of the Year
•No. 1-ranked Tight End in Palm Beach by East Coast Exposure and Muck City Media
In 10 games played as a senior tight end, Gibson finished with the following statistics:
RECEIVING
•27 receptions
•537 yards
•4 touchdowns
BEST TWO INDIVIDUAL GAMES
•Week 9 at Benjamin in 27-24 win: 4 receptions, 100 yards
•Week 11 at Dwyer in 38-14 win: 4 receptions, 89 yards, 1 touchdown; 1-yard rushing touchdown; 90 total yards, 2 total touchdowns
At this time, Gibson has earned scholarship offers from 12 schools. They include the likes of Keiser, UNC Pembroke, and St. Vincent College, among others. The Palm Beach Central hybrid athlete has not said for sure when he will make his final decision. But we could find out either within the next two weeks or on National Signing Day, which is on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Stay tuned.
NOTEWORTHY: Also playing in the fifth annual Football Hotbed Senior Bowl was Palm Beach Central 2025 running back Frankie Vomero, who is ranked as our No. 5 running back in Palm Beach County for the Class of 2025. Vomero finished his senior season with 110 carries for 635 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games played.
