RUSTON, La. – Andrew Burnette made the most of his two seasons at Keiser.

Burnette started his college football career at Highland Community College (2021) and Independence Community College (2022) before transferring to Keiser (2023-2024). The 6-foot-2, 225-pound running back was part of a powerful tandem with graduate running back, fellow Treasure Coast native, and Keiser legend Jaden Meizinger for their 2023 NAIA national title journey, which resulted in them combining for a whopping 2,643 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns.
Burnette’s role as the lead running back last season was a big one. He had 216 carries for 1,345 yards and 17 touchdowns, while adding 19 receptions and 179 receiving yards to amass 1,524 total yards in 13 games played. He helped lead Keiser (12-1 final record) back to the NAIA national title game this past December.
Here are some of the honors that Burnette has earned at Keiser:
•Third-Team AFCA All-American
•First-Team All-Sun Conference honors at running back
•Became third running back in Keiser history to record 1,000+ yards in a season (Marques Burgess – 2021, 2022; Meizinger – 2023)

With all that he has accomplished, Burnette decided to enter into the transfer portal this offseason and take his talents to another level.
Burnette went on to earn three Division 1 offers from Louisiana Tech (FBS), UTEP (FBS), and Stetson (FCS). After mulling his options over the a few weeks, the running back legend decided to sign with Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

“I just wanted to put myself in the best position to achieve my goals of playing at the next level,” he said.”
Burnette reflected on his time at Keiser under two head coaches – Doug Socha (2023) and Myles Russ (2024).
“I loved every second at Keiser,” he said. “They welcomed me with open arms and gave me a chance when no one else would, and I am very appreciative of that. The coaches have all helped me develop into the player I want to be. Coach Socha and Coach Russ both are great coaches who coach the game the right way and bring the right people in to get the job done.”
