Next destination for Snowman: ATH Jyron Hughley commits to West Virginia

PALM BEACH COUNTY – Jyron Hughley has been on the national college recruiting radar since he was an eighth grader at Glades Day in Belle Glade.

The nephew of Palm Beach County Hall of Famer and Notre Dame assistant head coach Ja’Juan Seider started out with an offer from Marshall way back in 2021. And in about four years time, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound junior athlete has racked up a total of 24 FBS offers to date.

Of the 24 offers that Hughley has racked up, he narrowed it down to three schools: West Virginia, Florida State, and NC State. And from this top trio, the Belle Glade native and Cardinal Newman team leader placed West Virginia as his top pick.

This morning (April 5), Hughley announced his verbal commitment to West Virginia on his social media accounts.

Hughley shared his reason for why West Virginia will be his college football destination.

“I choose WVU because it runs deep in my family,” Hughley said. “WVU has always been home for me since i was little. I’m just ready to get up there and start playing ball.”

Hughley on Florida State and NC State as his other two finalists:

“FSU and NC State became my top schools as well because of the connection through everything,” Hughley said.

Hughley received a major shout out from his grandfather Jay Seider, who is a Muck legend and Palm Beach County Hall of Famer in his own right. Hear Jay Seider’s words on Hughley right below.

Hughley is coming off an exceptional junior season at Cardinal Newman. Leading the Crusaders to the Class 1A state semifinal round and a 10-2 final record, the 2026 athlete posted the following statistics in 12 games played:

PASSING

•101-of-164 (61.6 completion percentage), 1,353 yards, 15 touchdowns, 3 interceptions

RUSHING

•87 carries, 835 yards, 10 touchdowns

TOTAL YARDAGE: 2,188

TOTAL TOUCHDOWNS ACCOUNTED FOR: 25

SIDE NOTES: Hughley is currently ranked as the No. 3 overall player in Palm Beach County for the Class of 2026, behind only Javian Mallory (No. 1; West Boca Raton 2026 RB; verbal commit to Miami) and Phoenix Donghia (No. 2; Cardinal Newman 2026 RB; transfer from Benjamin; nine offers to date). He is rated as a consensus three-star college prospect by ESPN, Rivals, 247Sports, and On3.
