Road to Tampa: All four No. 1 seeds are on track to win 1A-2A-3A-4A regional titles

PALM BEACH COUNTY – We will be making history tonight (May 1) in the 561.

For the first time, four FHSAA flag football regional final games will be taking place. Let us take a look.

CLASS 1A-REGION 3

No. 1 seed Somerset Academy Canyons (15-3) has blitzed past two playoff opponents at home in the regional rounds. Here is how the Lady Cougars fared:

•Regional quarterfinal – April 23: Blew out No. 8 seed Atlantic (Port Orange), 34-0

•Regional semifinal – April 28: Blew out No. 5 seed Gateway Charter (Fort Myers), 41-0

Somerset Academy Canyons has outscored its past two opponents by a score of 75-0. This indicates that the Lady Cougars are clicking on all cylinders now.

CLASS 2A-REGION 4

No. 1 seed Dr. Joaquin Garcia (16-0) has beaten its past two playoff opponents at home in the regional rounds. Here is how the Lady Bulldogs fared:

•Regional quarterfinal – April 23: Defeated No. 8 seed Suncoast, 21-6

•Regional semifinal – April 28: Defeated No. 4 seed Norland (Miami), 19-0

In only its second season of existence, Dr. Joaquin Garcia is doing more than enough to stay undefeated. The Lady Cougars are focused on taking that next step toward state glory in Class 2A.

CLASS 3A-REGION 2

No. 1 seed Seminole Ridge (14-2) has gone on to obliterate its past two playoff opponents at home in the regional rounds. Here is how the Lady Hawks fared:

•Regional quarterfinal – April 23: Defeated No. 8 seed Lakeland, 53-0

•Regional semifinal – April 28: Defeated No. 5 seed Martin County, 33-0

In all honesty, Seminole Ridge is currently the best flag football team in the nation – per latest team rankings by MaxPreps – with its total focus on both sides of the ball. The execution on offense and defense for the Lady Hawks has been nearly flawless during this magnificent 3A state playoff run, as they have outscored their opponents by a score of 86-0.

CLASS 4A-REGION 3

No. 1 seed Wellington (15-1) has beaten its past two playoff opponents at home in the regional rounds. Here is how the Lady Wolverines fared:

•Regional quarterfinal – April 23: Defeated No. 8 seed Freedom, 39-6

•Regional semifinal – April 28: Defeated No. 4 seed Harmony, 25-20

In what could be the state’s most competitive and toughest region, Wellington is holding its own against some of the best. For the nation’s No. 4-ranked team – per MaxPreps – some wins will comes easy and others will not. But what separates the Lady Wolverines from everyone else is their ability to prevail when situations get tight down the stretch.
