Muckstepper of Week 3: RB Samuel Arnold

WESTLAKE – Pahokee Blue Devils senior running back Samuel Arnold had a simple plan going into Week 3.

It was about him being completely locked in mentally and physically.

Suffice to say, it certainly showed in a positive way this past Thursday night (Sept. 4) on the road against the Seminole Ridge Hawks.

Our Muckstepper of Week 3 had the following statistics against Seminole Ridge:

•19 carries

•239 yards

•3 touchdowns

Pahokee (3-0; No. 3-ranked team in Palm Beach County) went on to beat Seminole Ridge (0-2) by a score of 40-7.

Arnold on his amazing performance against Seminole Ridge:

“I take watching film serious, so I came in prepared by reading their defense and pre-visioning everybody’s point of attack,” the 5-foot-9, 180-pound running back said. “It allowed me to hit the hole and utilize my vision every time I got the ball.”

In three regular season games, the Presbyterian verbal commit has registered the following statistics:

RUSHING

•57 carries

•537 yards

•6 touchdowns

RECEIVING

•4 receptions

•150 yards

•1 touchdown

TOTALS

•687 total yards

•7 total touchdowns

Pahokee junior athlete Dacorrian Jones has been quite impressed with Arnold’s play in all three games this season.

“He has been the best Muckstepper every game,” Jones said. “Like if you were where I was on the field, it’s like someone was controlling him like a human joystick.”

Pahokee head coach Carlos Lammons chimed in on Arnold’s play.

“Sam is a workhorse,” Lammons said. “He has that track speed he had, that endurance, that physicality. He’s just an overall great back. It’s time to start mentioning his name when you’re talking about the best running backs in Palm Beach County.”

Although Arnold is rapidly emerging as one of our area’s best running backs and overall players – regardless of class – the Pahokee offensive line must be credited for his success on the gridiron.

Without the offensive line, Arnold’s high level of play is likely not possible.

“Our o-line group is very good,” Pahokee senior EDGE Antonio Simpson said. “It goes from setting up blocks, getting to the second level, and communicating as far as that goes.”

Simpson on Pahokee’s overall performance against Seminole Ridge:

“It was a team effort,” Simpson said. “We were up by 28 points going into halftime. They came back out and was fired up. They almost scored and they got stops on us. We just had to settle down and play Pahokee football and finish the game off.”
