Week 4 recap: Muck players impact Cardinal Newman’s 26-10 win over Pahokee

PAHOKEE – Jyron Hughley and Leslie Mosley got their Muck Bowl-like experience last night (Sept. 12) at Anquan Boldin Stadium.

The Belle Glade natives helped lead No. 4 Cardinal Newman (3-1) to a 26-10 road win over No. 3 Pahokee (3-1). They were instrumental in the Crusaders overcoming an early 7-0 deficit as the road team dominated the game’s final three quarters with a scoring margin of 18-3 over the Blue Devils.

Let us start with Hughley (No. 1-ranked QB / No. 5 overall player in Palm Beach County). The West Virginia verbal commit threw for one touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter and did not commit any turnovers in ESPN West Palm Beach’s Game of the Week.

Hughley threw a dagger pass right through the heart of Pahokee’s defense, a 15-yard laser straight into the hands of sophomore sensation Ty Kirkpatrick (No. 4 overall player in Palm Beach County; Class of 2028). This play occurred at the 11:54 mark of the final frame and ultimately served as the game’s final score.

And less than four minutes later, we got a moment to savor from Mosley (No. 25 overall player in Palm Beach County).

With 8:16 left, Pahokee was working to bounce back from its 16-point deficit to Cardinal Newman when it attempted to executing on a fourth down passing play. As the ball reached the air and into the end zone, Mosley won a 1-on-1 matchup with a Pahokee wide receiver and caught an acrobatic interception midair.

Watch how the play unfolded and how this seminal moment effectively ended any hopes of a Pahokee comeback at home.
