BELLE GLADE – It has been a challenging yet rewarding season in a sense for Glades Day.
Coming off a 2-8 regular season that was highlighted by wins over Boca Raton Christian (Week 3; 52-27 road victory) and Coral Shores (Week 5; 27-14 home victory), the Gators were in a win or go home situation on Friday, Oct. 31.

A rematch was in store for No. 1 seed Glades Day in the Sunshine State Athletic Association (SSAA) 2A postseason first round against No. 4 seed Boca Raton Christian. This could not have gone any better for the home team in Belle Glade.
The Gators never trailed in their 42-34 win over the Blazers (4-5 final record; four-game losing streak to end their season). This was made possible by the likes of juniors Zeth Villarreal and Ramsey “Rambo” Rimes, who led the way in more ways than one.
Villarreal (2027 ATH) hardly came off the field, as he made his presence felt on offense, defense, and special teams. For proof, you can check out his numbers below.
OFFENSE
•8-for-11, 70 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions
•11 carries, 135 yards, 4 touchdown; Long of 34 yards
•205 total yards, 5 total touchdowns, 2 turnovers
DEFENSE
•3 tackles
SPECIAL TEAMS
•4-for-5 on extra points
We have some visual proof for you to see for yourself.
Rimes (2027 RB/LB) was a two-way force to be reckoned with on the field. Here are his numbers below:
OFFENSE
•16 carries, 115 yards, 1 touchdown; Long of 41 yards; 1 2-point conversion
DEFENSE
•7 total tackles, 1 interception
You can watch Rimes in action right below.
And then we had a stellar two-way performance by soon-to-be outgoing senior Payne Wallace (2026 LB). He finished the game with the following statistics:
OFFENSE
•2 receptions, 68 yards, 1 touchdown
DEFENSE
•4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass breakup
We want to show you a different side of Wallace this time. Take a look below.
After the game, we got an in-depth recap from
Wallace, Villarreal, and Rimes. They also went into how they overcame a four-game losing streak to end their regular season and how they plan to keep going in the SSAA 2A postseason.
Watch the interview clip below.
The next game for Glades Day is tonight (Nov. 7; 7 p.m. kickoff) against Canterbury (No. 3 seed; 6-5 record). This will be the SSAA 2A semifinal round, a rematch of last year’s tilt (SSAA 3A semifinal round) that resulted in a 29-28 comeback win for Canterbury over Glades Day.
Will Glades Day get its payback on the Muck? Or will its season end for good tonight?
We will find out for sure in a few hours.
Stay tuned.
